We proceed to the Taj Mahal to witness the marble miracle light up with the first rays of the sun. The glistening white marble is bathed in the soft morning glow and the twittering of the birds as they wake from slumber is the only sound that greets you in the midst of the tranquil gardens. It is as if the chaos of the city outside disappears and you are transported to an oasis of calm, away from the throngs of tourists and the frenzied rush of daily life!


Day 1

Monday 23 November - Gateway to Asia: Flying to Singapore via Auckland

Welcome to our Classical India adventure. Pack your bags and have your passports ready for a morning home pick-up, where you will then be transferred to Wellington Airport to catch our afternoon flight to Auckland. You will then connect to your international journey to Singapore, where we stay overnight at an airport hotel in Singapore before continuing on to Delhi the following day.

Day 2

Tuesday 24 November - Connecting Cultures: Flight from Singapore to New Delhi

We enjoy breakfast at the hotel and spend some time exploring Singapore Airport before boarding our late afternoon flight to Delhi. On arrival in New Delhi by late evening, we are met by our local representatives and transferred to our hotel. A city of striking contrasts, Delhi blends the timeless charm of Old Delhi with the energy of the modern capital. Steeped in centuries of history, it showcases magnificent landmarks including UNESCO-listed Red Fort, Qutab Minar and Humayun’s Tomb. From the vibrant lanes of Chandni Chowk to the serene Lotus Temple and the grandeur of Jama Masjid, Delhi offers a captivating introduction to India’s rich culture and heritage.

Day 3

Wednesday 25 November - Exploring the Heart of Delhi with Vibrant Delhi Hatt Market

This morning, we have a leisurely breakfast at the hotel’s restaurant and will have the morning free to recover from jet lag. In the afternoon, we begin exploring New Delhi with a visit to the magnificent Humayun’s Tomb, a UNESCO World Heritage Site dating back to 1572, famed for its elegant blend of Persian and Indian architecture set within tranquil gardens. We then drive through Lutyens’ Delhi, passing iconic landmarks including India Gate, Parliament House, the Secretariat Buildings and the President’s House. Later, we visit vibrant Dilli Haat INA, an open-air market showcasing India’s rich arts, crafts and regional cuisine—perfect for browsing and soaking up the local culture. We return to the hotel and enjoy dinner this evening.

Day 4

Thursday 26 November - Old Meets New: Exploring the Contrasts of Delhi

This morning we experience the vibrant energy of Old Delhi, beginning with a visit to the magnificent Jama Masjid, one of Asia’s largest mosques and a striking example of Mughal architecture. We then take an exciting rickshaw ride through the bustling lanes of Chandni Chowk, soaking up the sights, sounds and colours of its lively markets. We drive past the iconic Red Fort, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and former seat of the Mughal Empire before visiting the Raj Ghat, the simple yet moving memorial to Mahatma Gandhi. Later this afternoon, we visit Qutab Minar, another UNESCO World Heritage Site, famed for its soaring height and intricate Indo-Islamic carvings. We return to the hotel and dine in this evening.

Day 5

Friday 27 November - From the Capital to the Pink City: Drive to Jaipur

After breakfast, we drive to Jaipur, a journey of approximately 5–6 hours. We will break our journey for lunch (at your own expense). Jaipur is known as the “Pink City” for its distinctive salmon-hued buildings. It is the capital and largest city of Rajasthan, beautifully framed by the rugged Aravali Hills. The city offers a fascinating blend of royal heritage, vibrant culture, and modern life, with colourful bazaars, grand palaces, and ancient temples at every turn. Jaipur forms an important part of India’s famous Golden Triangle tourist circuit alongside Delhi and Agra, and also serves as a gateway to the desert cities of Jaisalmer and Jodhpur. We later check in to our hotel and enjoy the evening at leisure. We dine in this evening.

Day 6

Saturday 28 November - Unveiling Jaipur

This morning we visit the magnificent Amber Fort, set high above Maota Lake, where grand courtyards, ornate halls and intricate mirror work showcase the splendour of Rajput architecture. Later, we tour Jaipur’s highlights, beginning with the impressive City Palace, a stunning complex still home to the royal family and housing a fascinating collection of manuscripts, costumes and artworks. We then visit the UNESCO-listed Jantar Mantar, an extraordinary 18th-century astronomical observatory renowned for its precision instruments. During the day, we also stop for photos at the iconic Hawa Mahal, with its unique pink façade and delicate lattice windows. After a day immersed in Jaipur’s royal heritage, we return to the hotel and dine in this evening.

Day 7

Sunday 29 November - From Palaces to the Wild: Travel to Ranthambore

This morning, we drive to Ranthambore, a journey of approximately 3–4 hours through the scenic landscapes of Rajasthan. Located in the Sawai Madhopur district of southeastern Rajasthan, Ranthambore is renowned for its rich wildlife, historic landmarks, and natural beauty. Set along the northern edge of the Vindhyan Plateau, the region offers a unique blend of nature and heritage, making it one of India’s most celebrated wildlife destinations. Ranthambore is best known for the remarkable Ranthambore National Park, famous for its population of free-roaming Bengal tigers, as well as Indian leopards, deer, crocodiles, and a wide variety of birdlife. The area is also home to the impressive UNESCO World Heritage-listed Ranthambore Fort, a historic hilltop fortress that offers sweeping views of the surrounding forest and landscape. Other attractions include the revered Chamatkar Temple and the charming local gardens and restaurants that showcase the flavours and culture of Rajasthan. AamaGhati Wildlife Resort features a unique jungle-themed design resort.

We enjoy the rest of the day at leisure before pausing to continue our exploration of Ranthambore’s natural and cultural treasures the following day. We dine in again this evening.

Day 8

Monday 30 November - In Search of the Tiger: Ranthambore Safaris

Today, we enjoy an exciting wildlife experience with both morning and afternoon exclusive canter/ jeep safaris in Ranthambore National Park. Accompanied by experienced naturalists, we venture deep into the park’s rugged terrain, lush forests, and open grasslands in search of its remarkable wildlife.

Each safari lasts approximately three hours and offers excellent opportunities for wildlife viewing and photography. Between the safaris, there will be time to have lunch and relax at the hotel or enjoy the facilities and unwind amidst the tranquil surroundings of Ranthambore.

Day 9

Tuesday 01 December - From Tiger Trails to Timeless Beauty: Ranthambore to Agra

After breakfast, we drive to Agra (approx. 5-6 hours drive). Agra is set on the banks of the Yamuna River in Uttar Pradesh. It is a beautiful city, famous for its incredible Taj Mahal building, one of the seven wonders of the world and an architectural masterpiece of exquisite craftsmanship and perfect proportions. The city boasts numerous other superb attractions. We arrive at our hotel in the afternoon, check in and proceed for our late lunch. The remaining day is free to enjoy the facilities at your luxury hotel. We dine in tonight.

Day 10

Wednesday 02 December - In the City of Love: Exploring Agra

Early this morning we visit the breathtaking Taj Mahal at sunrise, when soft golden light illuminates its gleaming white marble, creating a truly unforgettable experience. A symbol of eternal love, this Mughal masterpiece was built by Emperor Shah Jahan in memory of his wife Mumtaz Mahal and is admired for its perfect symmetry and serene setting. After returning to the hotel for breakfast, we continue exploring Agra with a visit to the impressive Agra Fort, a UNESCO World Heritage Site showcasing grand palaces, courtyards and a rich blend of red sandstone and white marble architecture. We also visit the elegant Tomb of Itmad-ud-Daulah, often called the “Baby Taj,” renowned for its intricate inlay work and delicate marble craftsmanship. After a day discovering Agra’s remarkable Mughal heritage, we return to the hotel and dine in this evening.

Day 11

Thursday 03 December - From the Taj to the Fort: Agra to Gwalior

After a leisurely breakfast, we travel to Gwalior, a journey of around three hours through the heart of Madhya Pradesh. On arrival, we check in to our hotel before exploring this historic city, renowned for its rich cultural heritage, grand forts and elegant palaces. Highlights of the region include the majestic Gwalior Fort, the beautifully decorated Man Singh Palace, the impressive Jain rock-cut sculptures and the Tomb of Tansen, honouring the legendary classical musician. Later, we visit the striking Sun Temple (Surya Mandir), inspired by the famous Konark Sun Temple and designed as a chariot drawn by seven horses. Set among landscaped gardens, its red sandstone exterior and white marble interiors create a peaceful and visually stunning setting. We return to the hotel and enjoy the evening at leisure before dining in.

Day 12

Friday 04 December - Echoes of the Past: Discovering Gwalior

Today after breakfast, we explore Gwalior’s rich history and royal heritage, beginning at the magnificent Gwalior Fort, one of India’s most impressive hill forts. Set high above the city, the fort complex reveals centuries of history through its palaces, temples and ornate gateways, including the beautifully decorated Man Mandir Palace and sacred Gurudwara Data Bandi Chhod Sahib. Later, we visit the grand Jai Vilas Palace, a 19th-century masterpiece blending European architectural styles and showcasing the opulence of the Scindia royal family, now home to a fascinating museum of royal treasures and artefacts. After an enriching day, we return to the hotel and dine in this evening.

Day 13

Saturday 05 December - Traveling Through History: Gwalior to Orchha

After a leisurely breakfast, we will drive towards Orchha (approx. 2.5 hours drive) for sightseeing of the city frozen in time. Later we will have lunch and check into our hotel in Orchha. It is a destination often described as a “city frozen in time” for its beautifully preserved heritage and timeless atmosphere. Founded in the 16th century by Bundela chieftain Rudra Pratap Singh, it is set on wooded islands along the Betwa River and is renowned for its magnificent fortifications, palaces, and temples. The town reflects a rich legacy of art, architecture, and royal history. Key highlights include the grand Jehangir Mahal, an impressive multi-tiered palace built in 1606; the Raj Mahal, famous for its exquisite murals; and the elegant Rai Praveen Mahal, set within the tranquil gardens of Anand Mahal. Orchha is also home to several striking temples, including the Ram Raja Temple, the Laxmi Narain Temple with its vibrant frescoes, and the Chaturbhuj Temple, known for its distinctive spires.

We proceed for our lunch followed by our check in at the hotel. The afternoon is free to wander around this little town. We dine in tonight.

Day 14

Sunday 06 December - From Hidden Gem to World Heritage: Orchha to Khajuraho

After breakfast, we travel to Khajuraho, a UNESCO World Heritage Site renowned for its extraordinary collection of intricately carved Hindu and Jain temples dating from the 10th to 12th centuries. On arrival, we explore the Eastern Group of Temples, where beautifully detailed Jain shrines such as Parsvanath and Adinath reflect the region’s rich spiritual diversity, alongside notable Hindu temples including Brahma, Vamana and Hanuman. Later we check in at our hotel and after lunch, we continue to the impressive Western Group of Temples, the most magnificent cluster in Khajuraho, highlighted by the grand Kandariya Mahadeva Temple and other exquisitely sculpted monuments dedicated to various deities. This evening, we enjoy a captivating sound and light show set within the temple complex, bringing to life the history and legacy of the Chandela dynasty. We return to the hotel and dine in tonight.

Day 15

Monday 07 December - From Heritage to Spiritual Heart: We fly to Varanasi

After breakfast, we transfer to the airport for our flight to Varanasi. On arrival, we are met by our representative and transferred to our hotel. One of the world’s oldest living cities, Varanasi also known as Kashi, the “City of Light”, is the spiritual heart of India. Set along the sacred Ganges, it offers a powerful glimpse into ancient traditions and daily rituals that have endured for centuries. From its winding lanes and vibrant temples to the deeply significant cremation ghats and the revered Kashi Vishwanath Temple, the city reflects a profound blend of faith, history and culture. The remainder of the day is at leisure to relax and absorb the atmosphere of this timeless city before we dine in this evening.

Day 16

Tuesday 08 December - The Essence of Varanasi: Culture

Early this morning we enjoy a serene sunrise boat ride on the Ganges, witnessing ancient rituals as devotees gather along the ghats for prayers and ceremonies. We return to our hotel for breakfast, we then continue sightseeing with a visit to the unique Bharat Mata Temple, followed by the sacred Kashi Vishwanath Temple, one of the most important shrines dedicated to Lord Shiva, where we also experience an immersive VR Darshan (The VR Darshan Experience offers visitors a virtual reality–based darshan within the Kashi Vishwanath Corridor, allowing them to experience its spiritual essence without waiting in the main temple queues). Later, we visit the Sarnath Museum, home to remarkable Buddhist artefacts including the iconic Ashokan Lion Capital. In the evening, we return to the river to witness the mesmerising Ganga Aarti at Dashashwamedh Ghat, where chanting, fire and devotion create an unforgettable spiritual spectacle, followed by an evening boat ride. We return to the hotel and dine in tonight.

Day 17

Wednesday 09 December - From the Ganges to the Capital: We Fly From Varanasi to New Delhi

After a leisurely breakfast, the morning is yours to relax and enjoy your final moments in Varanasi. Later, we will be transferred to Varanasi Airport for your flight to Delhi. On arrival in Delhi, you will check in to your hotel with the afternoon to relax and recover from your journey, as well as to prepare for your early morning transfer to the airport the following day. In the evening, we will enjoy a farewell dinner at the hotel.

Day 18

Thursday 10 December - Across The Skies to Auckland: Via Singapore

We check out early in the morning from our hotel and take a short drive to New Delhi International Airport for our flight to Singapore, followed by our onward connection to Auckland.

Day 19

Friday 11 December - Homecoming: Flight to Wellington

We arrive at Auckland International Airport and will be transferred by an airport shuttle to the domestic terminal to catch our flight to Wellington this evening. We will be welcomed by our transfer vehicles for the journey home, bringing our remarkable and memorable adventure through India to a warm and satisfying conclusion.

Before you book a tour with Tranzit Tours, please take the time to read and understand these Terms and Conditions below.

Pricing Validity

All costs associated with each tour are outlined in full within each tour itinerary. All pricing quoted is valid for the dates of tour when booked.

Reservations and Payments

Bookings for all Tranzit Tours can be made through any Tranzit Coachlines Reservations Centre or an approved Travel Agent. Any person making a booking for others shall be deemed to have accepted these Terms and Conditions on behalf of all individuals they are booking on a tour and it is the responsibility of the person making the booking to bring these Terms and conditions to the attention of those individuals booked.

A deposit as stated in the Tour Itinerary is payable to secure the booking.

The balance must be paid in full by the date stated in the Tour Itinerary.

Any reservation made within fourteen (14) days of the tour departure must be paid in full at the time of booking.

Cancellations, Postponements and Alterations

Cancellations by the Customer

Cancellations from 31 July before tour departure date – the tour deposit is non refundable, plus any other fees charged by other providers such as accommodation, ferry, activities, flights etc.

Cancellations 60 – 45 days before tour departure date – a cancellation fee valued at 35% of the total tour cost, plus any other fees charged by other providers such as accommodation, ferry, activities, flights etc.

No refunds will be made for cancellations made within 44 days of departure or once travel has commenced. Refunds will not be provided for unused portions of a tour, unless the Customer can provide genuine reason and documentary evidence that services were unable to be utilised (and a refund if applicable is available from the other provider) in which case the company will review each request and may provide a partial refund at the sole discretion of the company.

Cancellations of one half of a twin share booking will result in the Customer cancelling being charged the cost of a single (single room supplement) booking, if the Company is unable to match the twin share booking with another Customer.

Alterations by the Customer

The Customer may transfer their booking to another person for the same tour and commencement date, but only if the other person satisfies all of Tranzit Tours requirements in relation to the tour and provides us a completed Booking Form. The Customer must notify Tranzit Tours in writing of the intended transfer at least 30 days prior to the commencement date of the tour. A $60 transfer fee per person/per transfer will apply (in addition to any supplier change fees).

Cancellations or Postponements by the Company

Tranzit Tours reserves the right to cancel, reschedule or postpone a tour. With the exception of the Force Majeure section below, Tranzit Tours will: In the event of a tour being cancelled by the company prior to departure and not postponed – refund the total amount paid in respect of that tour or provide a credit, but will have no further liability to the Customer.

In the event of a tour being postponed – rebook the Customer for the new departure date or provide a credit, but will have no further liability to the Customer.

In the event of a Force Majeure event that occurs prior to, or during, a tour such as but not limited to fire, flood, volcanic eruption, earthquake, avalanche, severe weather, power outages, labour disruptions, pandemic, government controls or other events outside Tranzit Tours control that interrupts the ability to operate the tour in full or in part, or if Tranzit Tours determines that the quality of the tour or the health and safety of the Customer would be compromised, Tranzit Tours reserves the right to cancel, postpone, or shorten the tour and will be excused and released from its obligations without liability of any kind. Customers will receive a credit for postponed tours. For cancelled or shortened tours, refunds in these circumstances will be in full less any unrecoverable costs (i.e. expenses already incurred or fees charged by other providers).

The Customer will be advised of any increased tour costs as a result of the postponement. Credits will be equal to the value of the payment made and must be used within 12 months. Customers are strongly advised to take out travel insurance.

In the event of cancellation or postponement by the company, Tranzit Tours is not responsible for any consequential loss incurred by the Customer. Customers are again advised to take out travel insurance.

Alterations by the Company

Before Tour Commencement: If a major change to the tour needs to be made before departure, we will inform the Customer of the change as soon as practicable and will advise of any consequential price increase or decrease. Tranzit Tours reserves the right to alter a tour (including the itinerary) and substitute accommodation facilities should unforeseen circumstances beyond our control make changes necessary. Whilst every effort is made to adhere to the itinerary as provided, the company reserves the right to alter the touring and attractions as dictated by circumstances and conditions outside the company’s control.  Alterations may be made to ensure the smooth running of the tour.  Every attempt will be made to ensure alterations do not adversely affect the operation of the tour.  The company will not be held responsible for weather-based cancellations, or those closures made at the tour provider’s discretion. Tranzit Tours will inform the customer as soon as practicable and will advise of any consequential price increase or decrease.

Insurance

Tranzit Tours recommend that you purchase comprehensive travel insurance to cover against things like lost or damaged luggage, accident or sickness, loss or theft of personal belongings and documents, or the need to cancel or shorten your tour.  Please note that special conditions will apply for pre-existing medical conditions with all travel insurance policies.

Health and Fitness

Tranzit Tours are generally able to accommodate most fitness abilities; however, some tours may require a certain level of physical fitness for full enjoyment of tour activities. The Customer must inform Tranzit Tours, at the time of booking, of any health or fitness restrictions that may limit participation of tour activities or put the Customer, tour staff or other customers at risk. The Customer acknowledges that their suitability for a tour, or any activity within a tour, is wholly the Customer’s responsibility.

Payment of a deposit by the Customer to secure a Tranzit Tour acts as a warranty that:

o   the Customer is reasonably healthy and/or fit to participate in the tour, and

o   the Customer does not have a health, physical condition or disability that would create risk to themselves, tour staff or other customers, and

o   the Customer indemnifies Tranzit Tours from all actions, claims and demands arising out of any want of health or fitness.

Tranzit Tours reserves the right to decline a booking on medical, health or fitness grounds at its sole discretion.

Tranzit Tours reserves the right to remove a Customer from a tour, or quarantine a Customer on tour, if their health and/or fitness interferes with the tour or staff safety or other Customers safety or tour experience in any way. Any additional costs associated with a Customer’s removal from tour or placement into quarantine, shall be borne by the Customer. Refunds will be made in accordance with these Terms and Conditions. 

Authority on Tour

Tranzit Tours are operated by staff with decision making authority while on tour. By travelling with Tranzit Tours, you agree to accept the authority of the driver/guide and their decisions are final in all matters likely to affect the wellbeing, safety or experience of any customer or staff member on board. Failure to adhere to reasonable requests or any inappropriate behaviour that is degrading the experience of other customers, may result in the Customer being removed from the tour. If a Customer is asked to leave a tour, any costs associated with returning home will be borne by the Customer and any unused portion of the tour will not be refunded.

Responsibilities

Tranzit Tours include goods and services provided by other operators such as hotels, attractions and transportation companies. Customers are advised to familiarise themselves with the terms and conditions on which these services are supplied. Accordingly, Tranzit Tours will not be responsible and will be excluded from liability for any loss, damage, omission or acts being negligent or otherwise, committed by other goods and service providers used in connection with the tour.

Tranzit Tours is not liable for any loss, damage, delay, or injury caused to the traveller or their baggage whilst under the care or control of a third-party provider. A Customer’s baggage and personal effects shall be carried at the owner’s risk as provided for under the Carriage of Goods Act.

Tranzit Tours is not responsible for any losses or additional expenses to the Customer due to tours impacted by Force Majeure events that occur prior to, or during, a tour such as but not limited to fire, flood, volcanic eruption, earthquake, avalanche, severe weather, power outages, labour disruptions, pandemic, government controls or other events outside Tranzit Tours control that interrupts the ability to operate the tour in full or in part, or if Tranzit Tours determines that the quality of the tour or the health and safety of the Customer would be compromised.

Acceptance of Risk

The Customer acknowledges that all Tranzit Tours may be subject to risks and dangers beyond that which might be experienced by the Customer at home. Except as provided in law, the Customer acknowledges that they assume all risk and Tranzit Tours is not liable for misadventure, death, injury, delay or loss which occurs during the tour.

Seat Rotation

For the enjoyment of all travellers Tranzit Tours operates a seat rotation system which all travellers must participate in as a condition of booking.

Photographs

Photographs used to market any Tranzit Tour depict typical scenes experienced, but the subject matter may not necessarily be seen or experienced whilst visiting a destination within a tour.

Whilst on tour, the Customer may be included in photographs and/or film taken by the guide or driver. These photographs may be used for future promotional advertising purposes and by booking on a Tranzit Tour the Customer authorises the use of any images they are captured in to be used without further consent or any payment of any kind. If the Customer does not authorise the use of their image for promotional purposes, they must make this known at the time of booking.

Privacy Policy

Any personal information that Tranzit Tours collects about the Customer may be used for any purpose associated with the operation of a tour or to send the Customer marketing material in relation to Tranzit Tour products. The information may be disclosed to our agents, service providers or other suppliers to enable Tranzit Tours to operate the tour. Tranzit Tours will otherwise treat your details in accordance with our privacy policy (available on our website).

Applicable Law

The laws of New Zealand govern these Terms and Conditions to the fullest extent allowable.
