Our Canberra Spring fling takes in all the must-see attractions and the unique beauty of the Australian capital and Southern Highlands.

Enjoy the famous Floriade festival, Parliament House, the National Museum of Australia, amazing gardens, world class wine and Canberra’s special spring displays.

Day One

Tuesday 24 September - Wellington to Sydney

Pack your bags and have your passports ready for an afternoon transfer to Wellington Airport to catch our late-afternoon flight to Sydney.

Meeting your coach captain at the airport, you will be taken to your hotel for the evening. A good night’s rest is needed, for tomorrow you will begin to uncover the delights of Springtime. Making new friends along the way, you will spend the next week visiting the must-see places unique to this time of year, from floral festivals to Canberra’s unique charm.

Day Two

Wednesday 25 September - Canberra and Remembrance

Welcome aboard! Chatting amongst new friends with excitement in the air, we head straight to Canberra to begin our Spring Fling.

Making great time we arrive at Rodney’s Garden Café, a peaceful place to enjoy lunch before visiting the Australian War Memorial.
Join a public tour or wander at your own pace through this sombre and uplifting monument, unveiling the sacrifices made by the women and men who served in war. Farewell the Memorial by witnessing the moving Last Post Ceremony before heading to
our hotel for dinner.

Day Three

Thursday 26 September - Canberra in Bloom

Today we celebrate the most colourful time of year, Spring!

Taking the opportunity to get a spectacular look of Canberra, we head to Mt Ainslie lookout, where you will find the views across Lake Burley Griffin breathtaking! Then it is off to the Floriade Festival! Feel nature’s joy of renewal as you wander through the extensive displays of more than a million blossoming bulbs and annuals. Revel in an impressive array of inspiring flowerbeds, horticultural exhibitions and unmissable entertainment. After enjoying lunch at one of the many stalls, we depart this wonderful spectacle of Spring, returning to our hotel for an afternoon at leisure and dinner.

As the sun sets over Commonwealth Park, Floriade becomes an illuminated wonderland as the *NightFest comes alive. Regale in the night’s enchantment, as you explore the mesmerising floral displays among the spiralling trees that ripple and pulse with colour. As the evening comes to an end you leave the NightFest feeling that you have truly celebrated Spring! *Please note that the dates for the NightFest have not yet been released, and if this cannot be secured at some stage during our evening, it will be replaced by another afternoon or evening attraction.

Day Four

Friday 27 September - Australia’s Capital

A relaxed morning before heading to Capital Hill, the focal point of Canberra and where we are introduced to the meeting place of the nation, Parliament House.

Listening to your guide as you are taken behind the scenes of this political power house. There also may be a chance to witness democracy in action! Visit the National Museum of Australia, dedicated to bringing together Australia’s rich and diverse stories. Enjoy lunch here before uncovering the museums highlights as you are guided through the history of the people and this nation. We now return to our hotel with a greater understanding of this country and Canberra’s role in it. This evening we have a dining experience away from the hotel at the Southern Cross Yacht Club, situated on the banks of Lake Burley Griffin.

Day Five

Saturday 28 September - Tulips and Homesteads

Make sure you have packed your camera this morning as we continue this Spring Fling at the magnificent Tulip Top Gardens.

Behold the glorious display of tulips nestled between the hundreds of blossom trees as you walk along the path to the cascading waterfall with classical music wafting in the background. Take the popular pathway past the rosemary field framed by the stunning trees to the high viewing platform for the perfect photo opportunity. After a magical morning wandering around the tulips, we make our way to Lanyon Homestead. At Lanyon Café, you will enjoy lunch while taking in the view of the Brindabella Mountains in the distance. Then it’s off to experience the restored mid 1800’s Lanyon homestead. Take your guides hand as you discover the Convict-era outbuildings and explore the stunning gardens that make it the gem of Canberra’s history. After a splendid day touring Canberra’s outskirt, we head back to our hotel to relax and enjoy dinner.

Day Six

Sunday 29 September - Spring in Bowral

It is now time to pack our bags and farewell Canberra as we make our way to the Southern Highlands.

Bowral, nestled at the base of Mount Gibraltar is home to some of the most beautiful gardens in the State. We first visit Moidart Garden, where you will get to explore the beautifully structured commons such as the The Sunken Rose Garden, The Silver Garden and the Woodland Garden, all containing many specimens of picturesque flora. Lunch at the beautiful Eling Forest Winery followed by Corbett Gardens to visit the Tulip Time display. This is our last opportunity to appreciate the stunning presentation of these iconic Springtime flowers before our final leg to Sydney. We reach our hotel and re-fresh, before a delightful evening upon Sydney Harbour. The views are stunning as we cruise, dine and dance the night away. What a wonderful way to finish our holiday.

Day Seven

Monday 30 September - Homeward Bound

Good morning! What an amazing Spring fling we have had over the last week, unfortunately it is time to depart this beautiful part of the world, with its amazing colours and fragrances unique to this time of the year.

Following breakfast, we complete our check out procedures and transfer to Sydney Airport for our flight back to Wellington. You will arrive back home with many new colourful memories to chat about amongst friends over a nice up of tea.
